Directions by Air and Airfield Standing Orders

The map below was taken with the permission from the 2008 VFR Flight Guide from AFE. (Many thanks AFE). Use this map ONLY as an indication of the general location of the airfield and for the circuit pattern and no go areas. Please remember to telephone in first and consult the latest AFE Flight Guide for current airfield plate.
Note for users of Google Maps the airfield is 3000ft NE of postcode SN8 4NZ.

The eastern half of runway 26/08 out of action for resurfacing from 23 September. Do not attempt to land on it until further notice. All the grass areas can be very wet and muddy.

Note grass surface uneven in places please taxi with caution.

Standing Orders

The following standing orders apply to ALL GS Aviation (Europe) Ltd students and visitors who fly into and out of CLENCH COMMON AIRFIELD and must be adhered to at all times.
  1. All students and pilots must become club members before flying (£40 student, £80 full)
  2. A landing fee of £3 will be charged to ALL non-members.
  3. All pilots must hold current 3rd party liability insurance, BMAA membership and the correct documentation as per CAP 85 section 2.25.
  4. All visiting flights by prior permission only. Hours of operation are 08:00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 19:00 on Sunday. NO flying outside these hours.
  5. All take-offs and landings to be recorded in the airfield log.
  6. All pilots must make themselves familiar with the circuit and joining requirements, local restrictions and emergency landing areas. Joining aircraft fly overhead the airfield at 1500ft agl and no less and check the signal square. Descend deadside the airfield turning in the direction of the circuit and join the circuit at the start of the downwind leg. Circuit height 500ft agl. Frequency 135.475 Safetycom
  7. All flying to be in accordance with UK VFR, The ANO and within the privileges of the pilots' licence.
  8. No flying over noise sensitive areas, see airfield map - that means any houses/farms in the area.
  9. All aircraft must be refuelled using a drip tray. Any flagrant breach of this rule will be subject to an on the spot fine of £20. Fuel burns on the grass last 2 years! All fuel must be stored in the designated area.
  10. Aircraft engines shall only be started at a safe distance from people, property other aircraft and animals.
  11. All pilots remain fully responsible for their aircraft at all times, including the safe operation of the aircraft and for any damage that may be caused by them or their aircraft. The landlords, tenants or operators of the airfield shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage howsoever caused.
  12. All reportable accidents or incidents shall be reported to an instructor or officer of the day.
